Hey y'all!
My name is Kathryn Crase and I am your child's Kindergarten teacher this year! :) Let me take a minute to tell you a little about myself!
Education: I am a local of Columbus and I was born and raised! I attended Johnson Elementary, Arnold Middle School, and Hardaway High School. I graduated in 2005 and went on to Columbus State University right out of high school. I have my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from CSU (where I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2009).
Teaching: This is my 10th year teaching, but my second year at North Columbus Elementary! I taught at Johnson Elementary for 8 years and have so many good memories from my experience there, but I'm so excited for my new adventures at NCES! :) I taught 4th grade at JES for 4 years and this is now my 6th year in Kindergarten. I LOVE Kindergarten and I will teach in this grade the rest of my career if I am lucky enough to do so! :)
Personal: I am a COMPLETE open book and I'm a very honest person (I'm always available by email to ask any questions you may have)! I just turned just turned 31 on February 16th this year, and I must say, my thirties have been my favorite thus far! I have been happily married to my husband, Nathan Crase, for 9 1/2 years. Nathan owns and operates NCrase wedding photography and has worked super hard to create a wonderful business! :) I am a mama of two beautiful little boys and a little princess: Myles, Jack, and Isabelle (Izzy Cate). Myles is 4 1/2, Jack is 1 1/2, and our little surprise (Izzy Cate) is 3 months old!
Interests: I LOVE anything farmhouse (as you can see from my classroom) and we just moved into a house that we are working to make look as close to a farmhouse as possible! Haha! In my spare time I love going antiquing (junkin'), doing DIY, spending time with my friends and family, and going to church.
Philosophy: I am a HUGE believer in you get out what you put in! For that reason, alone, I am always pushing my students to do better and be better! Kindergarten is the foundation of a good education. If children have a bad Kindergarten experience, it is very hard to get them back on track to loving school after that! I don't just attest that to me being their teacher, either. It CERTAINLY starts at home! Thank you ahead of time for being the wonderful and supportive parents that I know you are!
:) I look forward to a WONDERFUL and EXCITING school year! :)
